Diversity Committee's Sponsored Events and Programs

Upcoming events and programs:

Community Conversation:

These community conversations are intended to a) follow up on the discussions UC had in the spring, where we clearly identified that we need to have more ongoing and intentional discussions as a community about diversity, inclusion, and the campus climate for all members of our community and b) "take the next step" after the Walk for Unity and use that momentum to continue to address areas where we need to grow and sustain areas of strength. Every member of the UC community counts, and these conversations are open to all.

SafeZone

About the SafeZone Program:
The goal of the SafeZone program at Utica College is to increase our campus community’s knowledge, understanding, and awareness about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) issues.  This program aims to enhance our campus's sense of community while providing information and resources to individuals in order for them to create their own SafeZone, in which they can provide a supportive and welcoming environment to others.  The ultimate goal of this program is to create a supportive and safe UC environment for all individuals regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or gender expression.

Becoming SafeZone Certified:
Individuals can become SafeZone certified by attending one of the upcoming SafeZone Certification Training Programs listed below.  This 2-hour training gives participants the knowledge, resources, and skills to enable them to create their own safe space.  This safe space can be in an office, in a residence hall room, or anywhere they have a quiet, safe, and welcoming environment.  These events are open to all members of the UC Community but are limited to 30 participants per event, so we encourage you to sign up early!
